Senior Project Manager – Belfast
SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER
We’re hiring a Senior Project Manager to join our Belfast team to deliver large scale business applications projects for our clients. We’re accepting applications for the next two weeks with a start date in March 2020. This is a full-time permanent role.
We strongly encourage candidates of all different backgrounds and identities to apply. Each new member of our team gives us an opportunity for us to bring in a different perspective, and we are always eager to further diversify our company. Codec is committed to building an inclusive, supportive place for you to do the best and most rewarding work of your career.
ABOUT THE JOB
Fundamentally, this job involves taking overall responsibility for delivering a new, high-profile greenfield Microsoft business applications project in Belfast. We’re not looking for somebody to manage a portfolio of small project teams or take a ‘helicopter view’ of a large project. It’s also not a job for you if you are starting out in project management. It might suit you if you are an experienced Project Manager looking for a new challenge or are an experienced contractor who is considering moving into a stable, high profile permanent role in a growing Belfast based team.
Our Belfast Team consists of 20 people who have a wide range of experience, technical, commercial and managerial at a range of levels from graduates to senior consultants. As a senior project manager, you’ll join the team and work with them and our customers closely.
In broad terms you will be responsible for
- Managing of all aspects of the project from initiation through to operational support
- Baselining project scope and required business outcomes, including defined deliverables, key interdependencies and resourcing requirements
- Providing a single point of accountability as the primary point of contact for the project
- Developing budgets, monitoring and reporting progress against these to the project steering group
- Managing the project against milestones and specifications and manage any change to individual project scope.
- Ensuring that controls and measures are in place to assure the quality of everything we deliver.
- Ensuring that key stakeholders are kept well informed with accurate and timely information of progress, risks and issues.
- Making sure interdependencies with other projects are maintained, managed and properly co-ordinated.
As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll have a strong background in Project Management methodologies. You’ll be thoughtful and considered and understand that different projects need to be delivered in different ways. You’ll have worked with large enterprise organisations delivering business applications projects and understand the needs of these organisations. You’ll have worked under pressure and to tight deadlines, but you’ll know how to manage projects to minimise pressure and tight deadlines, maintaining control throughout. You’ll be an expert at planning and re-planning as needs and requirements change. You will be able to understand complex business processes quickly.
You’ll learn from us and we’ll learn from you. You’ll have the freedom and autonomy to do your best work, and you’ll get plenty of support along the way.
We don’t expect you to know everything about the specific technologies we are delivering. Some of the technologies are so new, we are still learning them ourselves!
You might be Prince 2 certified. You might not. We’re looking for someone with strong IT Project Management experience who understands how to deliver business outcomes. If you have experience with the ‘Microsoft Business Applications’ projects we deliver that’s great, but it’s not a pre-requisite. Solid IT Project Management fundamentals with organisational skills, pragmatism, commercial awareness and an attention to detail pave the way.
You will need to work in our city centre Belfast office or on a customer site initially and gain the confidence of our team and our Belfast based customers. We’re quick to trust. We see things through. We’re kind to each other, look up to each other, and support each other. We achieve together. We are colleagues who often disagree but are here to do our best work.
We value people who can take a stand yet commit to deliver even when they disagree. And we understand the value in others being heard. We subject all ideas to consideration and challenge each other, but all remember that we’re here for the same purpose: to do good work together and deliver for our customers. That comes with direct feedback, openness to each other’s experience, and willingness to show up for each other as well as for the work at hand.
As an experienced Senior Project Manager, we expect to pay you what you feel you are worth and how we feel you can help our team. We assess seniority relative to the existing team at Codec during the interviewing process and will offer you a competitive salary and benefits package relative to our existing team.
HOW TO APPLY
We’re accepting applications until Monday 24th February at 9am. We may schedule some interviews before the closing date. Send in your CV with a cover letter. Keep it sharp, short, and get across what matters to you. We value great writers, so take your time with the application. This is an important role for us and we’re giving you our full attention.
You’ll hear from us whether you’ve advanced to the interview part of the application process. Our interviews are one hour, with your future colleagues, and we will do our best to meet you on your schedule.
