Enterprise Mobility Suite Lunch Briefing

Last Wednesday over lunch at One Pico, we had some really interesting customer conversations, all around a common theme: protecting data while empowering employees to be productive from anywhere. Our Enterprise Mobility Suite lunch organised with Microsoft presented our guests with an exclusive briefing on data and identity security.

To begin with, Damian Griffin, ICT CTO at the Defence Forces raised the question “How secure is YOUR data?” and created a strong awareness around data breaches and the impact it can have on any business.

“As a business, you need to create a “secure breach” scenario, know a breach has occurred, isolate, resolve and mitigate the breach for the future.” Before ending his part with this advice: “Keep it secure, keep it simple”.

Paul Shanahan, Devices and Mobility Sales Lead at Microsoft Ireland, presented us with some research and interesting figures: “Over 75% percent of network intrusions exploited weak or stolen credentials”.

Numbers that stroke a chord with our audience, even more so when Luke Kennedy, our SharePoint Practice Lead, stressed how easy it can be for companies to oversee certain risks.

“We came across this case with one of our SharePoint clients: even after the employee had left the organisation and their Active Directory account had been disabled, the employee still had external access to the company SharePoint using a personal email that he had given external access to”.

While the Enterprise Mobility Management market has yet to grow and mature, it has seen a rapid consolidation of the following areas in the past few years: identity management, enterprise mobility management, mobile productivity and data protection.

“At Microsoft, we have built Office 365 and EMS to work together in a coherent manner. Both the end-user experience and the IT interface are being integrated. Identity is the backbone of creating a secure IT environment, both inside and outside the firewall”, further explained Paul Shanahan.

Our attendees left the session with a solid understanding of what is now possible in the Enterprise Mobility Management market. And with a clearer insight on how integrated Microsoft’s solution has become.
