Job Type: Permanent
Location: Belfast
Contact: Fidelma Wallace

BUSINESS ANALYST

We’re hiring a Business Analyst to join our Belfast team to deliver large scale business applications projects for our clients. We’re accepting applications for the next two weeks with a start date in March 2020. This is a full-time permanent role. We strongly encourage candidates of all different backgrounds and identities to apply. Each new member of our team gives us an opportunity for us to bring in a different perspective, and we are always eager to further diversify our company. Codec is committed to building an inclusive, supportive place for you to do the best and most rewarding work of your career.

ABOUT THE JOB

Fundamentally, this job involves taking overall responsibility for capturing, understanding and translating business requirements and mapping them to the Microsoft Business Application technologies we use to deliver them. We’re not looking for somebody to create a large requirement document and throw it over the fence to our developers to struggle with. We’re not looking for someone who is  unwilling to learn new low-code / no-code Microsoft technologies. It might suit you if you are an experienced Business Analyst looking for a new challenge or are a contractor who is considering moving into a stable, high profile permanent role in a growing Belfast based team.

Our Belfast Team consists of 20 people who have a wide range of experience, technical, commercial and managerial at a range of levels from graduates to senior consultants. As a business analyst, you’ll join the team and work with them, and our customers closely.

In broad terms you will be responsible for

  • Assisting our customers in mapping high level business requirements to low level functionality and in identifying issues and opportunities for improvement
  • Challenging assumptions
  • Mapping system requirements to business best practices
  • Performing ‘Fit Gap’ analysis as part of process design exercises
  • Mapping ‘To Be’ processes
  • Working with Solution and Enterprise Architects, Business owners, and Business Analyst Teams to understand fully our customers business requirement and document accordingly.
  • Leading client workshops to scope and define projects and granular tasks for each project
  • Liaising with client business owners, business analysts and development teams to confirm requirements in the context of the platform, software or tools chosen to deliver.
  • Playing a part in User Acceptance Testing, Regression testing and post Go-Live testing and ensure requirements trackability at each stage.
  • Managing and measure solution benefits mapped to business cases
  • Ensuring systems and changes are smoothly transitioned into operation including, supporting documentation and required user training

You’ll have worked with large enterprise organisations delivering business applications projects and understand the needs of these organisations. You’ll have worked under pressure and to tight deadlines in the past, but we don’t want you to do that at Codec. You’ll know from experience that gathering requirements early and accurately will make tight deadlines less likely. You’ll know how to prepare for and conduct requirements workshops, taking a lead to ensure you get the answers you need to successfully deliver a project.

You’ll learn from us and we’ll learn from you. You’ll have the freedom and autonomy to do your best work, and you’ll get plenty of support along the way.

We don’t expect you to know everything about the specific technologies we are delivering but it would help if you know how to use no-code / low code tools such as configurable CRM systems, Power Apps, Dynamics 365 or similar tooling. Our Business Analysts like to configure real working proof of concepts as opposed to flat wireframes in requirements documents.

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for someone with demonstrable Business Analyst experienceYou might have delivered Microsoft Business Applications projects in the past. You might not. We care about what you can do and how you do it, not about how you got here. You will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, communication skills and be results focused. You’ll understand different approaches when gathering requirements in both waterfall and agile projects.

You will need to work in our City Centre Belfast Office or on a customer site initially and gain the confidence of our team and our Belfast based customers. We’re quick to trust. We see things through. We’re kind to each other, look up to each other, and support each other. We achieve together. We are colleagues who may disagree but are here to do our best work.

We value people who can take a stand yet commit to deliver even when they disagree. And we understand the value in others being heard. We subject all ideas to consideration and challenge each other, but all remember that we’re here for the same purpose: to do good work together and deliver for our customers. That comes with direct feedback, openness to each other’s’ experience, and willingness to show up for each other as well as for the technical work at hand.

PAY

As an experienced Business Analyst, we expect to pay you what you feel you are worth and how we feel you can help our team. We assess seniority relative to the existing team at Codec during the interviewing process and will offer you a competitive salary and benefits package relative to our existing team.

HOW TO APPLY

We’re accepting applications until Monday 24th February at 9am and may schedule some interviews before the closing date. Send in your CV with a cover letter. Keep it sharp, short, and get across what matters to you. Writing documentation is an important part of being a Business Analyst. We value Business Analysts who are great writers, so take your time with the application and your CV to make sure it matches our requirements. This is an important role for us and we’re giving you our full attention.

We expect to take two weeks to review all applications. You’ll hear from us whether you’ve advanced to the interview part of the application process. Our interviews are one hour, with your future colleagues, and we will do our best to meet you on your schedule
