Smartbox selected Codec as their strategic implementation partner for implementing new automation processes to load and analyse financial data more efficiently, integrating disparate systems Dynamics AX and Dynamic NAV.

Codec answered the following project requirements, implementing an ETL process to load financial data with recording of all modifications in data. Integrating AX and Dynamics NAV sources in enterprise DWH. Creating multiple tabular models to support final reports and developing Excel reports using PowerPivot to analyse data.

Performance improvements: Prior to Codec implementation and automation, the extract process was manual (3 weeks per quarter). After deployment, the process took just 3 hours and allowed the Finance team to extract and analyse data on a monthly basis.

Solution: Azure | Industry: Airline/Aviation

Codec worked in partnership with the airline to create and design a customised Azure App to pull data from the airline’s existing on-site database to an Azure SQL database. Various data on stock levels, flight schedule/routes and other statistics were fed into the newly-created cloud-based infrastructure whereupon Azure Machine Learning predictive models were deployed on this existing data. The powerful new data models were made available for reporting in Power BI (enabling visualization of the enhanced data from beautiful reports to deliver radical new and informed business insights).

The airline now has the capacity (via the constantly updated reports in Power BI) to visualize and predict stock demand for inflight sales for their flights.

Codec worked with EpicCare to replace their traditional hosting infrastructure with a new cloud-based solution that integrated with their existing IT environment.

Adding cloud scale and delivering enhanced levels of security and reliability, the new Hosted Hardware Platform & Managed Service solution transitioned EpicCare to a newly designed Azure cloud environment that has transformed their digital capabilities.

Codec designed an Azure solution to import existing on-premise employee data into an Azure SQL database. Machine learning predictive models were designed, tested, trained and ultimately deployed which would run complex algorithms on the data to determine likely outcomes. These outcomes were then relayed back to the Azure SQL database and ready to access from within the Power BI dashboard for Abtran management to review (and alter business practices in accordance with predictions where necessary).

Abtran are now in a position to access reports within Power BI that determine with an accuracy of 85% (and rising) the rate at which current employees are likely to leave.

The IAA selected Codec as their strategic implementation partner for Business Intelligence and data warehousing.

Codec has delivered the project in several (internal and external) areas of IAA activity, working closely with IAA to convert data from disparate systems (EMPIC, SharePoint, MySQL, etc.) into valuable business information using Kimball data warehousing methodology. We implemented BI solution elements to shorten information delivery paths and times from hours to seconds and extended decision-making support tools from pre-canned reports only, to interactive dashboards, subscriptions and end-user BI.

Kyckr are a technology company who provide Global Business Registry information to financial institutions around the world. Kyckr has a team of developers working on delivering and maintaining their services. The application architecture and infrastructure hasn’t evolved much since Kyckr was launched in 2009, and the team were working in an ad-hoc fashion, mainly fire-fighting ongoing production issues.

Codec worked with Kyckr to upgrade their existing infrastructure to use PaaS services in Azure and to embed a DevOps culture within their teams. Their existing web application was upgraded to .Net 4.7.1 and hosted in an Azure Service Fabric cluster.

The SQL server database was migrated to Azure SQL and a lift and shift approach was used to migrate their existing API to Service Fabric. The new infrastructure was codified and deployed using Azure Automation. Codec introduced a lean agile approach to their development team. They now work on stories from a Kanban board. Codec also introduced Acceptance Test Driven Development concepts to the development team, as a quick way to raise code coverage.
