Problem

A workplace limited by legacy applications

As Fáilte Ireland migrated to the cloud and modernised its IT infrastructure, the organisation realised that legacy solutions on older platforms could be re-designed and optimised to maximise the range of applications available in Office 365.

In particular, the HR function in Fáilte Ireland was reliant on an on-premise solution and needed modernisation and an improved user experience. The impact of Covid-19 further increased the need to migrate internal, paper-based processes into Power Apps. Fáilte Ireland needed tools to enable the quick design, development and release of new solutions.

The organisation had already undertaken a Digital Workplace Initiative to support its initial migration from on-premise infrastructure to Office 365. With Codec, the organisation sought a solution that could enhance existing legacy solutions and increase the company’s use of automation.

Enhanced productivity through app modernisation

Through consultation with the client, Codec’s experts determined that Microsoft PowerApps was a natural choice to deliver digital innovation for Fáilte, as this solution offers unparalleled agility around design, development and release.

Codec identified a number of legacy business solutions that could be modernised and enhanced through Power Apps to deliver new productivity and business benefits. Fáilte Ireland also implemented Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online as their communication and collaboration platform, combining workplace chat, video meetings, file storage and application integration into a single solution.

Along with these technology solutions, Codec also worked with Fáilte Ireland to develop new processes and methodologies to ensure application modernisation and other enhancements were aligned with desired business outcomes. Workflow protocols were also implemented to support rapid prototyping and continuous optimisation of Power Apps solutions based on user feedback.
