After years of underwhelming value and support from its managed services provider, Maxol was in need of significant IT infrastructure changes to update its server infrastructure and hardware—while also meeting rising demand for safe, flexible and sustainable solutions.
To develop and deliver these innovative solutions, Maxol needed cloud infrastructure solutions that could support digitisation and provide a flexible, modern IT landscape. The company was faced with the decision to prioritise either an overhaul of its local data centre, or greater investment into the Microsoft cloud.
During the initial assessment phase, Codec consultants and Maxol leadership weighed each option’s cost effectiveness and alignment with corporate IT strategy. These stakeholders determined that the organisation’s greatest need was for digital transformation that brought the modern workplace to the cloud.
“The big picture for Maxol was a secure modern workplace that was sustainable. Microsoft gives us the building blocks to build that workplace. The key is to ensure that everyone can stay connected, whether at home, in the office, or in transit.”
Maxol’s digital transformation project focused on enhancing the employee journey, innovating the company’s business models, and elevating productivity for its operating assets.
Microsoft 365 and Azure were already being used to deliver some services for the company. Codec expanded the company’s reliance on Microsoft infrastructure by guiding migrations of remaining on-premises infrastructure, eventually moving the company’s entire IT environment to the cloud. This transition enabled flexible scaling of services and secured cost savings through more efficient IT spending. This cloud infrastructure also allowed for faster deployment of new solutions at a lower total cost of ownership.
With Codec’s help, Maxol’s digital transformation delivered high resource availability and improved network performance for Maxol’s applications. And, with all the servers now in Azure, the previous backups solution was no longer relevant as Azure Backups were configured to meet business requirements.
“Digital transformation is dependent on understanding the business impact of any proposed project. Thanks to our partnership with Codec, Maxol was able to identify and implement the innovations that offered the best value to our business model.”
